Frequently Asked Questions

Parenting Consultation

What is consultation?

Consultation is the action or process of meeting with an expert to obtain advice about a given subject. High Performance Parenting Consultants, Drs. Flannery-Schroeder and Tucker are eager to meet with you (parents or caregivers) to provide guidance on how to best support your anxious child. We have the training and experience to help your child develop a sense of confidence and competence in navigating their world.

How often should I expect to meet with the Consultants?

The number of sessions required to achieve the gains you are hoping to see is different for every family. Some parents find that one consultation session is sufficient to confirm that their parenting is on track and remove the doubts about whether they are doing all the “right things.” Other parents may find that recurring sessions are needed to bring about the positive changes they are seeking in their child’s anxious behaviors.

Will the Consultants meet with my child too?

The Consultation services are designed for parents, not children. You might expect that child behavior changes require us to see your child; however, we can make substantial changes in child behavior by changing the way you parent. This is great news because it means that we don’t have to rely upon a child’s readiness to change. All we need for positive change is a committed and motivated parent.

Can anyone schedule an appointment with the Consultants?

We, Drs. Tucker and Flannery-Schroeder, are both licensed to practice in the states of CT and RI. Given that virtual consultations “happen” where the Client is located, we are not able to see parents who are accessing virtual services outside of CT and RI.

Can I use my health insurance benefits?

Services provided by High Performance Parenting, LLC are out of pocket and due at the time the appointment is scheduled. High Performance Parenting is not in-network with any insurance panels and does not provide courtesy billing.

What can I expect at my initial consultation session?

The initial consultation session is held virtually. Parents will provide essential information about their child (their strengths, areas of concern). The Consultants will share clinical impressions and work collaboratively with parents to create a plan for positive behavior change. The plan will focus on changing and/or refining parenting behaviors to improve child behavior and overall well-being.
